Terms and conditions
1. SERVICE PROVIDER a. Scribal is a service provided by Doozy AS (“the company”), registered in Norway under the Register of Business Enterprises with number 929362004 at the address Sigerstadveien 66, 1630 Gamle Fredrikstad, Norway.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
a. Service type: Scribal’s All-in-One Academic Editing service (“the service”) includes checks and corrections for the following:
· Grammar and spelling
· Consistency and harmony
· Tone and fluency
· Conciseness and clarity
· Vocabulary boost
· Structural coherence
· Formatting per publisher’s guidelines
· In-text citations
· Bibliography review
b. Language: Scribal offers this service for texts written in the English language only.
c. Approval of sales quote: Sales quotes (“the quote”) is provided on the basis of information supplied by the client. The quote must be approved via Scribal’s systems before any work can begin.
d. Discrepancies in information supplied by the client: In the event of a discrepancy between the information supplied by the client and any documents that are subsequently delivered to Scribal, the company will seek clarification from the client and issue a replacement quote if necessary.
e. Liability due to client discrepancies: The company cannot be held liable for any delays resulting from such discrepancies described in section 2d of these Terms and Conditions.
3. CLIENT DELIVERABLES
a. Client deliverables: The client must provide Scribal with any and all documents he/she wishes to Scribal to process when approving this sales quote.
b. Format: All documents to be edited must be supplied to Scribal in Microsoft Word format. Style guides or other reference works may be supplied in PDF format or by providing a URL to the relevant information.
4. PRICING AND PAYMENT TERMS
a. Currency: The service is provided at a fixed rate of €0.025 per word or the equivalent in another currency.
b. Word count: The terms “word count”, “total number of words,” or “per word” refer to the number of words in the document(s) to be edited, inclusive of notes, bibliography, figures, tables, and title pages.
c. Payment for private clients: Private clients are free to choose whether to pay for the service when approving this quote, or upon delivery of the completed work. In the latter case, clients will be able to view but not download the work from Scribal’s systems until payment is received in full.
d. Payment for institutional clients: Clients whose institution will pay the invoice are required to arrange a purchase order through the relevant channels and send the purchase order to Scribal before confirming the order.
e. Payment methods: Payment may be made via bank transfer, PayPal, or any other local payment option that Scribal offers through its systems on a country by country basis.
f. Late payment policy: Reminders of unpaid invoices will be sent 1 day after the invoice becomes due. Invoices that are unpaid 14 days after becoming due will incur a 10% late payment fee for every 7 days they remain unpaid.
5. TURNAROUND TIME AND DELIVERY
a. Research articles and reports: 7 days.
b. Master’s and PhD theses: 14 days.
c. Books and other texts: Delivery will be agreed by email before a final quote is sent to you.
d. Delivery format: Microsoft Word files. One (1) copy of the text with tracked changes; one (1) copy with all changes accepted.
e. Revisions policy: Scribal has an open revisions policy. When returning a text to Scribal for revision, please include the original quote number in all communication.
6. CONFIDENTIALITY & DATA PROTECTION
a. All documents and communications will be handled with strict confidentiality. b. Client data will be stored securely and in compliance with GDPR regulations.
c. No third-party access will be granted without client’s prior consent.
7. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
a. If the client cancels the project before work begins, a full refund is issued. Please allow up to 7 days for the refund to be issued.
b. If work has already begun, the client will be charged pro rata for the percentage of work completed. The unfinished work will be returned to the client, along with the balance of the full amount.
c. If the work has been completed, no refund will be issued.
7. LIABILITY & DISCLAIMERS
a. While every effort is made to achieve accuracy, the client is ultimately responsible for checking Scribal’s edits and either approving or rejecting them.
b. In case of any doubt, please contact Scribal directly for clarification.
8. GOVERNING LAW & DISPUTE RESOLUTION a. These terms and conditions are governed by Norwegian law. b. Any disputes will first be resolved through mediation. If unresolved, disputes will be handled in a Norwegian court.
